Гимназисты NewTone блеснули устным английским на школьном TED Talks
О простом и близком или о большом и важном — глазами и словами тех, кто ещё сидит за школьной партой, и каждое из этих слов — на английском языке. Ежегодный TED Talks — марафон устных выступлений со сцены учеников 4–11 классов прошел в гимназии NewTone, став настоящим праздником самовыражения и хорошего английского.
Истории TED Talks в гимназии NewTone уже 3 года. Мероприятие воссоздает известное ток-шоу с обсуждением интересных тем, которые предлагают сами дети. Каждый участник готовит монолог протяженностью до 5-7 минут на вдохновившую его тему. Это может быть хобби и творчество, технологии и наука, психология и отношения, экология или другие глобальные проблемы современности. Все выступления проходят на английском языке.
— Важно, чтобы при подготовке своего выступления каждый участник не просто проявлял умение анализировать информацию и достаточно глубоко раскрывать поднятую тему, но и умел подобрать подходящую лексику, саму тональность выступления. Чтобы на сцене мы видели человека, который хорошо умеет держаться на публике и выражает свои мысли убедительными аргументами на беглом английском. Научиться этому и есть цель участия в этом мероприятии, — отмечает куратор TED Talks, учитель английского языка Гульнара Умаровна Худойбердиева.
Всего выступили более 40 участников. Кто-то говорил уверенно и вдохновляюще, кому-то пришлось преодолевать волнение и боязнь сцены. Но когда силы выступить перед аудиторией всё же находились — это становилось настоящей победой! Взаимоподдержка тоже в деле. Некоторые выступления были парными или прошли в формате диалога. Объединило же всех участников то, что все их высказывания были построены на личных примерах. Это сделало выступления очень личными, а значит, ещё более интересными и убедительными.
New Tone gymnasium students shine in oral English at school TED Talks
About the simple and close or the big and important — through the eyes and words of those who are still sitting at the school desk, and each of these words is in English. The annual TED Talks — a marathon of oral presentations from the stage of pupils of grades 4-11 was held in New Tone Gymnasium, becoming a real celebration of self-expression and good English.
The history of TED Talks in NewTone Gymnasium is already 3 years old. The event recreates a famous talk show with discussion of interesting topics proposed by children themselves. Each participant prepares a monologue of up to 5-7 minutes on a topic that inspires them. It can be hobby and creativity, technology and science, psychology and relationships, ecology or other global issues of our time. All presentations are in English.
— It is important that when preparing his speech each participant not only showed the ability to analyze the information and deeply enough disclose the raised topic, but also was able to choose the appropriate vocabulary, the very tone of the speech. So that on the stage we see a person who can hold himself well in public and expresses his thoughts with convincing arguments in fluent English. Learning how to do this is the purpose of participating in this event,» said Gulnara Umarovna Khudoyberdiyeva, curator of TED Talks and English teacher.
In total, more than 40 participants presented their speeches. Some spoke confidently and inspiringly, others had to overcome excitement and stage fright. But when they found the strength to speak in front of the audience, it was a real victory! Mutual support is also in the business. Some speeches were paired or were in the format of dialog. What united all the participants was that all their statements were based on personal examples. This made the speeches very personal, and therefore even more interesting and convincing.
