Космические весы и рециклинг на физике. В гимназии NewTone завершилась Декада естественных наук
В последние дни апреля в Английской гимназии NewTone завершилась Декада естественных наук — насыщенная программа, объединившая творчество, исследовательскую работу и заботу об окружающей среде.
Пятиклассники посетили недавно открытый в Ташкенте Музей геологии. Осмотром захватывающей экспозиции дети закрепили материалы уроков о происхождении и строении Земли, зарождении и развитии жизни на нашей планете. А заодно заглянули в музейный планетарий, вдохновившись сказочной атмосферой открытого Космоса. Особенный интерес вызвал экспонат-аттракцион, благодаря которому ребята узнали, сколько бы они весили на Луне, Марсе и других планетах Солнечной системы. По итогам посещения гимназисты написали эссе со своими впечатлениями.
В самой школе тем временем состоялся конкурс юных изобретателей. Ученики 6–8 классов представили собственные приборы для уроков физики, созданные из подручных и переработанных материалов — ПЭТ-бутылок, картона и другого бросового сырья. Все модели для демонстрации физических законов и даже измерения величин были рабочие. По словам Татьяны Викторовны Гайер, учителя физики и главы методического объединения естественнонаучного цикла, участники по-настоящему блеснули как предметными знаниями, так и креативом.

Кульминацией и финалом декады стал общешкольный форум «Экологические проблемы Республики Узбекистан и их решение». Он впервые объединил итоги проектно-исследовательской деятельности школьников по целому спектру дисциплин. Например, влияние и возможные решения проблемы пыльных бурь рассматривались на географии, тема загрязнение окружающей среды — на биологии, электромагнитных волн и тепловых двигателей — на физике, экологическая химия — на уроках химии.
Как результат — не только новые знания. Например, в школе появился пункт сбора использованных батареек — для их последующей утилизации согласно зеленым стандартам. Таков итог одного из ученических экопроектов. Все проекты на форуме были внимательно изучены и оценены Ниной Алексеевной Пикуль — специально приглашенным международным экспертом по вопросам экологии.
В течение всей декады ученики готовили плакаты на английском языке на тему возобновляемой энергии и защиты редких видов в Узбекистане, участвовали в дискуссиях, экскурсиях, конкурсах. Декада завершилась, но её импульс к исследованию, заботе о природе и научному творчеству останется с ребятами надолго.
Space scales and recycling in physics. The Decade of Natural Sciences has come to an end at New Tone School
The last days of April saw the end of the Decade of Natural Sciences at NewTone School, a rich program that combined creativity, research and environmental awareness.
Fifth graders visited the recently opened Museum of Geology in Tashkent. By viewing the fascinating exposition, the children reinforced the lessons on the origin and structure of the Earth, the origin and development of life on our planet. And at the same time they looked into the museum planetarium, inspired by the fairy-tale atmosphere of the open cosmos. A special interest was aroused by the exhibit-attraction, thanks to which the children found out how much they would weigh on the Moon, Mars and other planets of the Solar System. Following the visit, the students wrote essays with their impressions.
Meanwhile, the school itself hosted a contest of young inventors. Pupils of grades 6-8 presented their own devices for physics lessons, created from improvised and recycled materials — PET bottles, cardboard and other discarded raw materials. All models for demonstrating physical laws and even measuring quantities were working. According to Tatiana Gayer, physics teacher and head of the methodological association of the science cycle, the participants really shone with both subject knowledge and creativity.
The culmination and finale of the decade was the school-wide forum «Environmental Problems of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Their Solution». For the first time it united the results of project-research activities of schoolchildren in a whole range of disciplines. For instance, the impact and possible solutions to the problem of dust storms were considered in geography, the topic of environmental pollution — in biology, electromagnetic waves and heat engines — in physics, environmental chemistry — in chemistry lessons.
As a result — not only new knowledge. For example, the school has a collection point for used batteries — for their further utilization according to green standards. This is the result of one of the pupils’ eco-projects. All projects at the forum were scrutinized and evaluated by Nina Alekseevna Pikul, a specially invited international expert on environmental issues.
During the whole decade pupils prepared posters in English on renewable energy and protection of rare species in Uzbekistan, participated in discussions, excursions and contests. The Decade has ended, but its impulse for research, care for nature and scientific creativity will stay with the children for a long time.
