Cinema that teaches understanding. New Tone School hosts screening by the inclusive film club “(Not) Like Everyone Else”
An event featuring a screening of animated films about children and adults with health and developmental differences took place at the New Tone English Gymnasium. The special guest and moderator of both the screening and the subsequent discussion was Nina Nikolayevna Dobrynchenko, the head of the “(Not) Like Everyone Else” project (Russia).
During the dialogue, the students analyzed the characters’ actions, reflected on how they would have acted in similar situations, and discussed both the value and the challenges of acceptance, respect, and empathy.
The “(Not) Like Everyone Else” film club initiative is among the best projects of the All-Russian Forum “Strong Ideas for a New Era” and is aimed at developing an inclusive culture through art.
“A reminder that we are all different, and that the ability to understand and accept one another makes us stronger, helps develop adaptability and emotional intelligence skills. This is one of our school’s priorities,” noted the gymnasium’s principal, Elina Arturovna Yunusmetova.
